The Last Chapel Service of the 08-09 Academic Year

On Friday, May 15th, 2009, SPbCU held its last chapel service of the academic year.

It was a time where the year was summed up and certain awards were presented to several people. The outstanding students were acknowledged with scholarships for their excellence in attendance and grade results.

Also, Milana Romahina received an award for active participation in preparation for the youth conference "Footprints of Eternity".

Other professors of SPbCU were also recognized.

Aleksei Dadochkin, Academic Dean of SPbCU, underlined that every single professor deserves acknowledgement. A special award was presented to Professor John Gerig, a dearly loved professor of all students, for his outstanding organization of the youth conference "Footprints of Eternity".

Dr. Elmer Stobbe, a member of the Board of Directors of SPbCU, also said a word in closing. His speech reflected a wish for the students, and most importantly, the graduates to find a spiritual mentor. This is always hard, but it is even harder without a mentor, especially when you are still young.

As an example, Dr. Stobbe shared a personal story to underline that it is not only the young that are in need of a spiritual mentor, but meeting such person is always beneficial. Search and it will be given to you, search and you will find.

Konstantin Kravchenko, vice-Rector of SPbCU, called the students to follow the True way, which can sometimes not be simple. If there is a choice between the easy way and the hard, but True way, a Christian must always choose the later, for only it will lead him to God.
