SPbCU Team Returns from Tajikistan

I.M. Savich interviewed our Rector in July, 2008, after an SPbCU team visited Tajikistan. Here is his report.

Question: What was the purpose of this trip?

A.I. Negrov's reply: Our goal was to help Tajikistan Christian communities in provide short-term Christian camps for children and adolescents.

 Q: Besides you, who else was involved in this project?

A: SPbCU staff-members Nadezhda Malchikova and Svetlana Kirichenko, and students Daler
Raxmet-Zadeh and Yuri Vervay. Two students from Kishinev Theological-Pedogogical Institute
also participated.

Q: How many children came to the camps in which you took part?

A: More than 150 children and adolescents came and got to know about
Jesus Christ.

Q: How was money provided to organize this project?

A: Funds were donated by local Christian churches in St Petersburg. Two overseas missions offered
contributions: Light for the Peoples and World Share. A certain amount of money was also  allocated by SPbCU.

Q: What exactly did you yourself do in Tajikistan?

A: I conducted seminars on Christian leadership in local churches in Dushanbe and Leninabad.

Q: Did this trip achieve its objectives?

A: I think so. Local churches expressed their gratitude for the training of Sunday School teachers.
Our team also received thanks for their assistance in providing the Christian camps.

Q: What are the prospects for further cooperation in SPbCU's education programs?

A: We reached a tentative agreement on the organization of distance learning programs for leaders of  churches and Christian organizations in Tajikistan.
