The Graduation Ceremony and Celebration of the International Program students
A celebration and graduation ceremony of the international students was held on December 15th, 2009, at SPbCU.
The three months, during which six students from Canada and one from the USA took Russian language classes, Russian culture classes, and Russian history classes at SPbCU, made the students from the American continent dear and close to us.
The graduation ceremony began with an official part.
The president of SPbCU, Dr. Alexander Negrov, addressed the gathered guests with warm greetings and a message that emphasized the mutual benefit of fellowship between the two sides. "Thanks to you, the distance between our countries became smaller and our hearts became bigger".
The Russian-speaking students were also thankful to the foreigners for the time spent together, for the pleasant fellowship, and exchange of experiences. On behalf of all the international students, Kevin Schur thanked the SPbCU community for the three unforgettable months: "You will come in our hearts to Canada" he said.
After the official presentations of the diplomas of finishing a semester at SPbCU and memorable gifts, the leadership of SPbCU prayed over the international students.
After the ceremony, all the guests moved into the cafeteria where they watched the fruit of the studies of the international students while they drank tea and ate sweets. They presented several amusing skits in Russian, and, at some points, it seemed that they had been learning the language for quite a while.
Parting was incredibly hard, because we became dear and close and those 7 students will remain in the hearts of those who continue to study and work at SPbCU.
