The End of the Leningrad Blocade Is Remembered

On January 27th several hundred people gathered at the Piskarevskoe Cemetery to honor the memory of those who defended their motherland during the 900 days of blockade during World War II.
People of various ages and professions came with flowers and wreathes to lay on the white snow of the graves and to put near the snow-covered monument of a woman holding a garland of flowers, the memorial wall, the eternal flame and the rigid soldiers who stood on guard.

Representatives of the government and institutions of St. Petersburg as well as of consulates and embassies of various countries honored the memory of those who died for their mother country. I.M. Savich, who is a pro-rector of SPbCU, went as a representative of St. Petersburg Christian University.

More than 60 years have gone by, but those who remember the past of Russia and who connect it with the future of our country still come there year after year. And the words that are written by the entrance of the cemetery are heard again and again: "Your deeds are eternal in the hearts of new generations."
