Rector's Message
Greetings, Brothers, Sisters and Friends!
Welcome to St. Petersburg Christian University (SPbCU), which was founded in 1990 as an institution of professional religious education, organized for preparing Christians for effective ministry and leadership in the church and society.
I myself was part of the first group of students to apply to the University. Throughout our years, hundreds of students have received theological and practical knowledge, strengthened spiritually, and opened new perspectives for Christian lives and ministry.
Currently, SPbCU is one of the leading Evangelical academic institutions in Russia. We are especially proud of our alumni. We have close ties with the Christian congregations, religious organizations, and leading Christian academic institutions in and out of our country. We are open to new connections and partnerships towards mutual enrichments and spiritual edification and assistance of better understanding of the Christian way of life, and provide everyone the access to the Christian faith and culture.
Saint Petersburg Christian University (SPbCU) acknowledges that its vision and mission of the professional perfection of its faculty, and the spiritual and moral condition of its staff and students influence (not fully, but to a considerable point) the future development of local Christian churches and organizations.
Spirituality at our University is perceived as speculative understanding of God which is implemented in one's life and search for knowing God and then shown in character of the individual and all of University's community. We constantly hold a critical and analytical view on the historical and current Christian practice. We create a culture of understanding the responsibility of each Christian to live in correspondence to the teachings of the Bible.
Christian pedagogical work and research in our University comes from the premise that the Divine is only partly known to us, yet, at the same time, we know the Truth, which allows us to answer topical questions of Christian congregations (and the society as a whole), understand the questions on the existence of a Creator and creation, and create models and methods of various virtuous practices for service to the Church and society.
The pedagogical effort of SPbCU are aimed at the interpretation of the studies, the contextualization of the learning tools, the practical implementation into life, and the transformation of the character of the faculty and students. Our professors do not only understand and deepen in the foundations of their disciplines, but also perfect their understanding of their students, their past, present, and especially, their future.
We see our students not as temporary clients, but as permanent fellow soldiers in Christian ministry, and create an utmost comfortable setting for intellectual, professional and spiritual perfection for providing success in ministry and leadership in the church and society.
I wish all our students to finish their studies successfully, and not only finish, but to stay in contact for their whole lives, to find faithful friends amongst the faculty and students, to help their University, and we, in our turn, will always try to help our students and graduates.
I hope that as you chose an institution for Christian education of partnership, you will make the right decision: apply to SPbCU or begin to work us, and you will never regret it.
