Library
The library is an important supportive instrument in the training process. It is a high priority for SPbCU to reach and maintain an excellent reserve in its library. It has been difficult to obtain Russian literature in the area of theological studies over the past 70 years. Because of this, theological books in Russian are limited to the growing number of helpful volumes currently being translated. The majority of books necessary for theological studies are in the English and German languages.
Because of the efforts made over the past years, there has been a dramatic change in the number and quality of books acquired for the library: The library has grown to over 22,000 volumes, consisting of 15,000 English, and 7,000 Russian volumes. A collection of appropriate journals and magazines have also been added and other media materials have been assembled. Perhaps the most significant of these materials is the addition of several audio courses for Master's level studies which are available in English.
Apart from the SPbCU facilities, students have access to the public library of St. Petersburg available to them.
Students following University of Wales validated degrees are granted access to the University of Wales Online Library . once they have been registered with the University. To find out more about the Online Library, go to the Using the Online Library pages.
Readers
The following readers have the right to use the SPbCU library:
- Bachelors students of SPbCU
- Masters students of SPbCU
- Staff of SPbCU
- Faculty of SPbCU
The following readers have limited access (the right to use books within the premise of the Library):
- Alumni and previous employees of SPbCU
- Faculty and students of other academic institutions, both Christian and secular
- Employees of Christian Missions and Church ministers
This category of readers must contribute for the developing of the library:
- Frequent visitation during a semester: 300 rubles
- Single (daily) visit: 20 rubles
However, they do not have the right to use the Computer Lab.
The application to use the library is filled out with a passport. For students of other academic institutions, an application for the use of the library books within the library must be filed with the presence of a passport. For church ministers or mission employees a petition from their church or mission must be present.
